In the event of inclement weather, the club meeting is cancelled if the Brighton School District is closed.

Meeting Day Activities

Club members enjoy interesting programs with lectures, workshops, and a variety of club activities at the monthly meeting.

Block of the Month (9:30 -10AM) Participants in Block of the Month sign out a block kit which they make and return the next month. The kit contains some of the materials needed to complete the block. Those that return the block the next month are placed in a drawing. Depending on how many blocks are returned, winners of the drawing will receive 3-4 blocks. The monthly blocks are chosen to allow quilters to learn new skills, or refine their skills. Cost to participate is $1 per month

Comfort Quilt Table (9:30AM -1PM) Members visit the Comfort Quilt Table to turn in charity quilts for the club’s Love and Comfort Quilt Project. At the table there is a wide selection of quilt kits that can be signed out which contain a pattern, instructions, and pre-cut patches, border and binding. There is also a selection of large cuts suitable for backing.

Workshop Registration (9:30 -10AM) Workshops are scheduled for nearly every month from September through June. At the workshop registration table, members can often see samples of workshop projects, get more information on the projects, pick up a registration form or register for workshops.

Show & Tell (about 10:30am) The most popular and favorite part of GVQC meetings is Show & Tell. Members have an opportunity show and tell about their quilted projects.

Fat Quarter Drawing (9:30 -10AM) Participants turn in one or more fat quarters according to the fat quarter theme for the month. The more you turn in, the more times you are entered into the drawing. Depending on the number of fat quarters turned in, winners will receive a nice stack of fat quarters.

Lending Library (9:30 -10AM) GVQC has a very extensive library of over 500 titles of books and a few CD’s that can be borrowed for the month. Titles cover all areas of quilting skills, techniques, and interests.

Member Sale Table (9:30 -noon) GVQC members have an opportunity once each year to have space at a "sale table" to sell items that may declutter their stash, supplies, notions, completed or partly completed projects, or anything else that might be of interest to quilters. Members must request in writing, in advance, to schedule space at a “sale table.”

Program (Noon - 1PM) Every meeting includes a program. Most months it is a special speaker that shares their quilting journey, quilting wisdom, or trunk show. December, January, and June are group programs. See the Calendar for the month's program.

After Meeting Mini Workshop (1:15-2PM) Occasionally during the year after meeting mini workshops are scheduled. These short 45 minute workshops are often technique focused and are taught by a club member. There is no cost and no registration required.
