Beth Kelly and Sue Donovan, members at GVQC for many years, became quilting friends and, then, really good friends. They both are a part of the "Sassy" quilt group that loves to explore techniques, medium, and creative ways of expression.

Together, Beth and Sue have enjoyed designing and presenting Fall Migration and Spring Fling workshops. They always offer interesting and innovative projects, sometimes upcycling things you have on hand. This year's projects at Fall Migration, again, will be fun, a way to learn new techniques, and a time of fellowship with quilting friends.

Sue's Project: Cord Baskets

Using purchased cord, Sue will instruct you in the methods for creating a cord basket, and even using fabric strips for decorative additions. Note: the cord will need to be purchased prior to the class. All information and vendor are in the Supply List.

Beth's Project: Quilts on Canvas

Mounting a quilt on canvas gives your work a polished look without the need for binding or hanging sleeve. No hanging rod necessary, only a nail or two is needed. This provides flexibility in location and makes the work more smoothly interchangeable with other types of wall art.

In class, you’ll make an 8” x 8” quilt using raw edge machine applique with free form stitching and attach it to a canvas frame using one of several methods. Fusible, parchment paper and canvas frames will be provided, and an automatic staple gun will be available for your use.
