Penny Marble - Trunk Show - "Old Quilts and New"
October 2023

Penny is a life-long Western New Yorker, currently living in Darien NY with her husband, Charlie. A quilter for over 35 years, she takes great pleasure in teaching others the techniques of the trade. She is a pattern designer, a judge, and a longarmer as well. Her patterns have been carried in Keepsake Quilting and have recently been picked up by Annie’s Crafts as well. Penny left her career in corporate America to concentrate her energies on her “second” career.

Penny is often asked what inspires her as a pattern designer and where she gets her ideas and inspiration for new designs. Answering that question, Penny's Trunk Show will take us on a journey through her quilting evolution—from where she started out many years ago, to where she is today.

One of the big influences on Penny was taking part in a week long retreat with Ricky Tims in LaVeta, Colorado. These seven days changed her outlook on herself as an artist. Her Mini Rhapsody Quilt workshop is a result of this retreat.

Penny is also a quilt show judge throughout the area.

Workshop: October 13 - "Mini Rhapsody Quilt"

Penny Marble

Ricky Tims is well known for his incredible appliqué quilts, particularly a series called Rhapsody quilts.  This workshop will introduce you to doing appliqué – Ricky style as you make a smaller version of the Rhapsody quilt.  In addition, the class will teach color placement and how it can change the overall outcome of your quilt. The key to mastering Ricky’s style is the addition of his signature stitching – so bring lots of colors of thread to coordinate with your fabrics!

I will also share with you the process used to do Ricky’s large Rhapsody quilts.
