September 9 - Peggy Martin "Palm Leaf"

Palm Leaf: This simple traditional block has many different design options. Use it alone in a variety of settings, as borders, or set other 12" blocks on point with Palm Leaf triangles in the corners. Palm Leaf units also make great borders.

The workshop includes instruction in the Quick-Strip Paper Piecing technique and are suitable for confident beginners to advanced quilters

September 10 - Peggy "Evening Star"

Evening Star: Similar in appearance to the classic Mariner's Compass, this circular design is simplified and pieced in a fraction of the time. Piece it in traditional colors for a classic look, or go wild with directional fabrics and bright colors.

October 29 - Nancy Halpern "Architectural Forms For Quiltmakers"

Participants will use traditional and/or original.quilt designs suggested by architectural forms (houses, windows, roof-lines) to work out a quilt or wall-hanging. Optical illusions and three-dimensional effects will be explored, and designs may be incorporated into an abstract or representational land- or cityscape design such as Archipelago as shown here . Suitable for intermediate to advanced quilters.

November 11 & 12 - "Fall Migration"

This is a fun, relaxing and stress-free 2 day event. Sign up for one or both days.

It is great way to meet fellow quilters. Bring a project you have been working on. Or work on the quilt project, Hugs & Kisses.

Price includes continental breakfast, hot/cold buffet lunch and afternoon refreshments.



February 10 & 11 - "Spring Fling"

Spring Fling is a great time to bring a project you have been working on or would love to finish. It includes a catered lunch. You may register at the workshop table at our GVQC meeting for either Friday or Saturday or both days at $25 per day. This workshop is open to only GVQC members.

 

March 2 & 3 - Sue Beevers "Dragonflies"

This workshop, which has been designed with an intermediate to advanced student in mind. It is based upon Sue Beever’s book, Dancing Dragonfly Quilts. Students will learn to piece Sue’s original Dragonfly block as well as piecing the modified blocks. Students will use 3 different piecing methods. They are traditional, template piecing and paper piecing.

April 6 - Caren Betlinski "Coneflower: Thread Painting"

Learn an interesting technique. Thread painting is painting with thread. Using free motion stitching, students will learn different techniques for shading their cone flowers. The result is a painterly masterpiece.

May 9 - Jan Krentz "Stone Mosaic Dimensional Diamonds"

Create a geometric design with depth and dimension. The quilt is pictured on the cover of Jan's book "Quick Diamond Quilts and Beyond". The construction method is surprisingly straightforward, and fabric selection is the key to creating dimensional effects. There are two methods of construction for this quilt. You will learn about both methods in class; primary instruction will focus on the easier Faux Diamond technique. Suitable for advanced beginner quilters and above.
