Our History

The Genesee Valley Quilt Club, Inc. is one of the oldest continually
meeting quilt clubs in the nation. Starting with 10 members in January
1936 the club has grown to over 300 members.

In 1936, quilting was considered a hobby but today, quilting has
exploded to include a vast diversity of quilters from the traditionalist to
the fiber artist. This dramatic change has occurred with the advent of
many new quilting tools, shops, museums, books, magazines, web
sites and fabric lines as well as national and international shows with
major prizes.

The members of GVQC include beginning quilters, quilters with
intermediate skills, and many with such advanced expertise that they
have work accepted in the most prestigious juried shows in the
country.

By sharing their work and skills, club members constantly inspire each
other to continue in their quilting endeavors.
