This raffle quilt (size: 82 X 94), named “Gems from the Genesee Valley,” was designed by club member Christine Wickert. The whole process started in June 2004. The 72 four inch sampler blocks showcased in this quilt were made by various members of the club. Instructions in how to assemble miniature blocks and many patterns were provided by club member Beth Brandkamp. The Irish Chain setting squares were assembled by club members during two sewing sessions at Patricias’ Fabric House. The entire quilt was assembled and sewn by club members in yet another sewing session at Christine’s Club House. The floral appliqué border was designed and hand stitched by Christine Wickert with the help of several club members. The quilt was basted during one of our club meetings and then 20 club members spent about 425 communal hours hand quilting it in club member Peg Tuttle’s living room during the summer of 2005. Club member Ruth Ohol sewed the binding. The quilt was appraised by Linda Hunter, a certified AQS appraiser, at $3,800. |
| This is a Post Card of our Raffle Quilt. The Post Card was designed by Paula Melino to promote our Biennial Quilt Show and the Raffle Quilt. |
